2016 Coastal Cleanup Day Accomplishments

It was a beautiful and successful day of stewardship for many volunteers. Here are our statistics:

3   Groups cleaned the San Rafael Creek/Canal in watercraft!

7   Locations cleaned in San Rafael

12  Miles were cleaned

45  Youth participated

83  Adults participated

128 Total Volunteers

166 Pounds of recycling collected

2,349* Pounds of trash removed from our waterways!

Unusual items – light saber, 2 legible immunizations cards, baby stroller, bike frames, 11 golf balls

* Parker Diving Service provided a “landing boat” that enabled heavy items to be removed from the Canal.

Coastal Cleanup Day is coordinated by the California Coastal Commission and in Marin County the US Army Corps of Engineers Bay Model.
