Earth Day 2017 Volunteer Opportunities

Remove Invasive Plants on Shoreline Path @ Bedford Cove
Volunteers will pull sprouting broom plants and trim back other plants on Shoreline Path. Meet at the “park bench” on the path adjacent to Bedford Cove. A stunning Bay view awaits you! Carpool is recommended, as parking is limited along Spinnaker Point Drive and side streets.

Trash Pick Up on Shoreline Path @ Target
Volunteers will walk shoreline path and pick-up trash. We will also clean adjacent areas. Parking is plentiful at Target at 125 Shoreline Parkway. Meet at Starbucks patio. A stunning Bay view awaits you!

Clean the Canal on a Paddle Board!
How cool… a trash pick-up from a paddle board! You can enjoy a free paddle board during the cleanup time. This is not open to children under age 12 years of age. Reserve your spot by calling 101 Surf Sports at 415-524-8492, ask about the Earth Day Cleanup.

Cleanup Schoen Park Trash and Plant Trimming
Volunteers will pick up trash at the park and marsh or help trim plants that hide Schoen Park. Schoen Park is located where Canal Street becomes Spinnaker Point Drive. This small park is east of Albert J. Boro Community Center, do not park at the Community Center as they have events. Please use street parking. It is limited, so consider carpool, bike or walk.

What to bring to all projects: Water in a reusable bottle, your favorite work gloves, sunscreen, hat, layered clothing, and sturdy close-toed shoes

Coastal Cleanup Day

CCD 2014_Interact (4)Saturday, September 16, 2017 —  9am to noon

Coastal Cleanup Day is the state’s largest volunteer event. Volunteers help remove trash and recyclables from beaches, waterways and surrounding areas. Coastal Cleanup Day is a great way for families, students, and neighbors to join together, take care of our fragile marine environment, and have fun!

Make a Difference Day

MDD 2014Saturday, October 28, 2017 —  9am to noon

Make a Difference Day is a national day of helping others—a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors.

Check back closer to the date for specific projects. Last year 24 volunteers including scouts from Troops 101 and 2000 plus students from Terra Linda High School painted benches and picnic tables at Albert Park Field.

San Rafael celebrates the day as the culmination of its own season of monthly service projects from April to October. Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine, Make a Difference Day is an annual event. Click here for the National Make a Difference Day website.
